Half-Day Tours

Book your 2018/19 Snowshoe Tour today!

We have three unique and exciting Guided Half-day Snowshoe Tours to choose from. Please note that prices are the same for all tour locations and that the difficulty for each tour is also indicated.

  1. Emerald Lake (Yoho) - Beginner 5.3 km.
    This trail begins by the lodge and follows the perimeter of the lake. It is mostly flat trail with beautiful views to surrounding mountains and ideal for first steps in snowshoes or families with children.
  2. Lake O'Hara Fire Road (Yoho) - Moderate 5 km.
    This tour is following Lake O’Hara fire road can be adjusted to different ability and length. After steeper start the second part flattens out and includes rolling hills with more open views to surrounding scenery.
  3. Sherbrooke Lake (Yoho) - Advanced 6.2 km.
    From the parking lot behind West Louise Lodge on Wapta Lake, the trail climbs steadily for 2 km, levelling off before reaching the lake at kilometre 3.1. The lake sits in a narrow valley surrounded by steep slopes.
  • Price includes experienced certified guide, snowshoe rentals (snowshoes, boots and poles), hot chocolate and snack .
  • Tours are approximately 3-4 hours.
  • Departing daily at 9:00am from December 15, 2018 to April 1, 2019 (custom departure times available upon request).
  • Meet with your snowshoe guide at the guides cabin in-front of Lodge of the Ten Peaks 30 minutes before departure to collect rental equipment (meeting at the trail head also possible).
  • Snowshoe with your interpretive guide on trail chosen to fit your expectations.
  • Includes transportation from and to Lake Louise (Ski Resort and local hotels).

Full-Day Tours

We have four unique and exciting Guided Full-day Snowshoe Tours to choose from. Please note that prices are the same for all tour locations and that the difficulty for each tour is also indicated.

  1. Ross Lake Circuit (Yoho) - Moderate 9.5 km.
    The trail climbs gradually to Ross lake bounded by a great rock wall. We start on Lake O’Hara road and follow it for a while sharing trail with x-country skiers. Next section we enter forest and keep on gradually climbing towards the lake. Return journey is mostly downhill through forest and then joining Great Divide Trail for last section.
  2. Deception Pass (Banff) - Moderate/Advanced 14.2 km.
    This backcountry tour will take you through spectacular alpine terrain with an elevation gain of 500 m (1500 ft) to a total height of 2485m (8200 ft). Along the way you will be able to see historic Temple Lodge and Halfway hut, will walk across Boulder pass and along Ptarmigan Lake. This tour can be adjusted to different ability and length - reaching all the way to the top of Deception Pass.
  3. Taylor Lake (Banff) - Advanced 13.5km.
    Advanced trip with elevation gain of 592m that leads through forest to beautiful alpine Taylor Lake in a scenic hanging valley below Mount Bell.
  4. Wapta Falls (Yoho) - Moderate 8.6 km.
    Mostly flat trail and easy full day tour for beginners or families with children. There are a few rolling hills and the trail continues to a lower viewpoint down river from the falls. There are three overlooks, all providing excellent views to the waterfall and Wapta river.
  • Price includes experienced certified guide, snowshoe rentals (snowshoes, boots and poles), hot chocolate, snack and sandwich lunch.
  • Tours are approximately 6 hours.
  • Departing daily at 9:00am from December 15, 2018 to April 1, 2019 (custom departure times available upon request).
  • Meet with your snowshoe guide at the guides cabin in-front of Lodge of the Ten Peaks 30 minutes before departure to collect rental equipment (meeting at the trail head also possible).

How to Book a Tour

Reservations are required at least 24 hours in advance of the tour. To make a reservation please click the "Book Online" button below or drop by our Guides Cabin (located between Lodge of Ten Peaks and Whisky Jack Lodge). You can also email us at guides@skilouise.com, or call 1-403-522-1385.

Cancellation Policy

Reservations are recommended due to limited spaces. Changes to reservations can be made based on availability. Within 48 hours of the snowshoeing time, refunds will not be issued. As Snowshoeing is a winter sport, there will be no refunds for extreme weather conditions.

Note: This snowshoe tour requires reservation and payment at least 24hours in advance. Guests are required to wear warm winter gear. We suggest a winter jacket, snow pants, gloves, winter footwear and warm socks, and a toque or balaclava. In addition, snow goggles are great for sun glare and windier days. Our Rental Shop can fit you with a winter jacket and pants (optional) or you can purchase top brand winter gear from our Alpine Sports Boutique. A light backpack is also a good idea to carry your camera, water and snacks.
