JANUARY 22, 2009 SKI AREA UPDATE

January 22, 2009 UPDATE: The Lake Louise Ski Area is going to be a lively place this weekend as Canada’s Favourite Ski Area has plenty of exciting events on the schedule. Saturday will be an excellent day to be on the mountain as we will feature the Grand Opening of our new Terrain Park and also host our first major Slopestyle competition of the year.

Saturday is also “Local’s Day” at Lake Louise as all Bow Valley residents will have the opportunity to ski or ride at Lake Louise for just $20. All proceeds from “Local’s Day” will be matched dollar for dollar by the tri-area resorts and donated to local community causes, so come out, enjoy the long run down, and support the Bow Valley community!

And if you’re from Down Under or just enjoy the good folks from Australia, be sure to be on the mountain on Monday for our annual Aussie Day celebrations. Have a great weekend!

Saturday, January 24 - Lake Louise Slopestyle:
Lake Louise Slopestyle is back! Open to both skiers and boarders, this is your chance to show that you have the best style in the Bow Valley. Set in the Lake Louise Terrain Park, this event will be held on a variety of rails and jumps. There will be lots of prizes to get your hands on including a $4000 cash purse. The Entry Fee is $35.

Saturday, January 24 - Terrain Park Grand Opening Party:
In celebration of the opening of the official Lake Louise Ski Area terrain park on Easy Street, complete with jumps, rails, and boxes, we will be throwing a Park Party. There will be music playing throughout the day, $2 hotdogs, and free hot chocolate. A viewing area will be set up for spectators to enjoy their refreshments and take in the Lake Louise Slopestyle event going down from 11:00am - 4:00pm. You no longer need a terrain park pass to get into the park so don't miss out on the festivities! The new Terrain Park should be a big hit as world-renowned terrain park designer Jeff Patterson is currently on site and is overseeing the final design and construction of the park.

Saturday, January 24 - Community Day:
The Lake Louise Ski Area says a big THANK YOU to local communities by offering $20 full-day tickets to locals. Residents of Lake Louise, Banff, Canmore, Field and Exshaw need to bring proof of residence (i.e. driver’s license or pay stub with photo ID). All proceeds will be matched dollar for dollar by the tri-area resorts and donated community causes, so come out, enjoy, and support your community!

Your donations will support: Upgrading the playground and buildings at The Banff Child Care Centre and Canmore Community Daycare Society to ensure fun and safe environments for local children
