ANOTHER SKI AREA UPDATE

With 27 cms of fresh snow in the past 24 hours and a settled snow base of 139 cms, the Lake Louise Ski Area is in fantastic shape as the 2009 New Year begins.

"All nine lifts are in full operation and 123 runs are available to ski and ride," confirms Lake Louise marketing director John Ross. "The entire mountain is in mid-winter shape and the weather forecast looks fantastic for the upcoming weekend as we should see a return to warmer temperatures and the possibility of more snow."

The new Lake Louise Terrain Park is now open and is located on lower Easy Street, just below the Glacier Express Chair. The Terrain Park currently features 3 small to medium jumps (10-20 feet) and 2 rail/boxes lines with 3-4 rails/boxes per line. When the Terrain Park is fully constructed, it will feature six or more jumps and up to 15 rails. In addition to getting the new Terrain Park open, the management at Lake Louise has also decided to eliminate the need for waiver forms and the possession of a Terrain Park pass. Please use common sense and beware and ski/ride with care.

For those skiers and boarders in a hurry to hit the slopes, the Lake Louise Ski Area now features 7 automated lift ticket machines available for lift ticket and Louise Card processing. Four automated tellers are located on the outside deck (adjacent to the ticket windows) and three automated tellers are located along the wall near the indoor customer service desk. Just insert your credit card or Louise Card, use the touch screen and your lift tickets will appear. It’s fast and easy!

For those skiers and riders who like to enjoy a hearty and affordable breakfast at the mountain, the Lake Louise Ski Area now offers a breakfast buffet in the Great Bear Restaurant of the main day lodge from Friday-Sunday. For just $10.95 ($5.95 children 12 and under), skiers and riders can indulge in an all-you –can-eat breakfast buffet featuring scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, pastries, cottage cheese, assorted cereals and fruit salad. Breakfast buffet hours are from 8 am-10:30.

Louise Card holders, who have not yet processed their cards, will also find free direct-to-lift processing facilities available on the upper level of the Whiskyjack Daylodge.
Enjoy your weekend!
