World’s Fastest Alpine Ski Racers Come To Lake Louise For The 2017 Audi FIS Ski World Cup

LAKE LOUISE, AB (Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017) - The 2017 Lake Louise Audi FIS Ski World Cup race organizing committee will soon arrive in Lake Louise to get the competition race-track built for the men’s and ladies’ Audi FIS Ski World Cup downhill and super-G races at the Lake Louise Ski Resort.

Men’s downhill and super-G races are scheduled to take place Saturday, Nov. 25 and Sunday, Nov. 26, while ladies’ downhill races are scheduled for Friday, Dec. 1 and Saturday, Dec. 2, followed by a ladies super-G on Sunday, Dec. 3.

The Lake Louise Audi FIS Ski World Cup downhill and super-G races are the first speed events of the 2017/2018 Audi FIS Ski World Cup circuit. With over three kilometers of mountain terrain built into the speed track, lined with over 20 kilometers of safety nets and 70 pieces of air fencing, the race organizing committee is fully committed to the delivery and safety of these events.

“Being Canadian and able to race at the only World Cup stop in Canada is a great way to start our season”, commented World Champion super-G bronze medallist Manuel Osborne-Paradis. “This is our home race and it wouldn’t be possible without the dedicated volunteers who spend their vacations helping ensure we have a place to race in Canada each year”.

About the Lake Louise Audi FIS Ski World Cup

The world’s fastest skiers descend on Alberta at the end of November each year to compete at the Audi FIS Ski World Cup downhill and super-G races held during the Lake Louise Audi FIS Ski World Cup. Held in the heart of the majestic Rocky Mountains at Lake Louise Ski Resort, Canada’s highest-profile alpine ski race features the first men’s and ladies’ speed events of the Audi FIS Ski World Cup season. First hosted in 1980, the Lake Louise World Cup event is the first outside Europe to be named to the prestigious Club 5, an organization that brings together the most famous and historic World Cup alpine race organizing committees. The event has become synonymous with the start of the ski season each winter. It also represents the only opportunity male and female Canadian alpine skiers have to win a World Cup on home snow.
