Heavy Duty Mechanic - posted May 13th 2013

Reporting to the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor, some of the requirements/responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Regular & unscheduled inspections and maintenance of all wheeled vehicles, over snow equipment, and stationary engines
  • Must be knowledgeable and show a proficient ability to troubleshoot and work with and repair electrical systems, hydrostatic drive systems, hydraulic systems, and light truck equipment.
  • Participate in maintaining a high standard of safety
  • Assist in all vehicle and equipment maintenance projects and work with contractors as required
  • Operate all fleet vehicles in order to evaluate the results of previously performed maintenance
  • Complete work orders and projects as assigned
  • Accurate record keeping of regular inspections, maintenance, and projects
  • Work closely with Mountain Operations, Mechanical Services, Parts / Purchasing, and in cooperation with all other resort departments
  • Must have the ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Must possess accurate verbal and written communication skills.

The Chocolate Moose Park – Daycare at The Lake Louise Ski Area is a licensed, accredited daycare serving our families from all over the world. We take care of children from toddlers to school going children.

Reporting to the Daycare Manager, the primary responsibility of a Daycare Attendant is to ensure an enjoyable and the safe stay for the children at The Lake Louise Ski Hill Daycare.

IT Support Specialist - posted April 15th 2013

Reporting to the IT Supervisor, the ideal candidate will be a positive, outgoing and self-motivated individual well versed in a broad range of IT disciplines.  This position will include working on major IT projects during the summer and will be focused on support during the winter. 

An excellent verbal and written communicator, the successful candidate will work with other members of the Information Technology team to support and maintain the technologies at The Lake Louise Ski Area. 

This is a full-time, year-round position based in Lake Louise, Alberta.  Normal work weeks include four (4) shifts of ten (10) hours each from 0730h to 1800h including one unpaid thirty (30) minute lunch break per shift.  Shifts will include most holidays and weekends and may include evenings and/or nights as required.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent communication skills verbally and in writing
  • Friendly, approachable and self-motivated
  • Able to prioritize, multitask and deal with stressful situations well
  • Thorough understanding of common PC hardware and associated peripherals; must be able to troubleshoot and resolve common hardware issues independently
  • Expert working knowledge of common Microsoft operating systems (Windows 7, Windows XP) and applications (Microsoft Office suite)
  • Thorough understanding of computer networking and the ability to set-up, troubleshoot and maintain end-user equipment in a networked environment
  • Familiar with TCP/IP, subnetting, routing, VLANs and be capable of performing basic administration of network equipment including switches
  • Willing and able to ski or snowboard to access various locations around the ski area as required
  • Well-versed in current IT trends; interested in developing, implementing and supporting emerging technologies

Additional Experience and Assets

  • Familiar with installation and maintenance of Campus Area Networks including OSP (Outside Plant Cabling), trenching, copper and fiber-optic cabling installation
  • Experience with structured cabling systems (copper and fiber-optic), equipment rack and device installation, operating and maintenance
  • Understanding of Radio Frequency system concepts, particularly in analog VHF and microwave (802.11n) bands
  • Able to setup, operate and maintain audio / video systems including satellite receivers, Cable TV headends, structured audio systems, mixers, speaker processors, amplifiers and speakers
  • Telephony experience, particularly experience performing moves, adds and changes in a PBX and/or VoIP environment
  • Experience with Linux (CentOS, Ubuntu) servers, ability to perform basic administration and shell scripting
  • Programming skills and/or experience (particularly PHP, Java)
  • SQL experience (MySQL or MS-SQL); able to perform basic SQL queries involving multiple tables
  • Familiarity and/or experience with Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange
  • Experience working in a structured helpdesk environment (able to manage and prioritize tasks and communicate effectively through service desk software)
  • Experience with Symantec Backup Exec, tape backup systems and disaster recovery planning
