Big Mountain Challenge OpenThe Big Mountain Challenge is back for its 16th year! This is the non-sanctioned competition day - a separate event from the FWQ 2*! The 2019 B.M.C has categories for both skiing and snowboarding for men & women who are 18 and older! 


A chill, laid back vibe with no points, no ranking... just FUN! Come and hang out in the tents and enjoy some hot dogs, high fives & great company!

Whether this is your first Big Mountain Competition or your 20th, it is sure to be a blast. Athletes compete in one venue on this day and judged on line, control, fluidity, technique and style. The non-sanctioned day will have both a qualifying run and a finals run. 

  • Men Ski (18+).
  • Ladies Ski (18+).
  • Men Snowboard (18+).
  • Ladies Snowboard (18+).

Discounted Lift Tickets

We will be offering 20% off on the purchase of your multi-day lift ticket. Please see the Check-In desk on the morning of the event. Or, you can purchase a discounted ticket when you register online. 


Thursday February 21st, 2019 - CHECK IN & OPTIONAL INSPECTION RUN

  • 8:00am - 4:00pm: Early Check-In at the Season Pass Desk, Whiskey Jack Cafeteria.
  • Non-mandatory Inspection Day in the Venue, see details under Inspection Rules.
  • 12:00pm: Non-mandatory Inspection for Women Snowboarders & Skiers. 
  • 1:00pm: Non-mandatory Inspection for Men Snowboarders.
  • 2:00pm: Non-mandatory Inspection for Men Skiers.

Friday February 22nd, 2019 - QUALIFIERS & FINALS

  • 7:00am - 8:15am: Check-in at the Sitzmark Lounge.
  • 8:15am: Mandatory coach & athlete meeting in the Sitzmark Lounge.
  • There will be no registration available the day of, so please register ahead of time!
  • 9:00am: Load Glacier Chair & Top of the World Chair.
  • 9:30am - 10:30am: Inspection Runs (no hitting of features.)
  • 11:00am - 4:00pm: Qualifying Runs followed by Finals Runs. We will run these back to back.
  • Results & Awards to follow in Kuma Yama, whenever the last competitor is done and the judges have tallied the scores.
  • 4:00pm - 6:00pm: Beverages & Snacks will be available for purchase in the Powder Keg Lounge, across the terrace from Kuma Yama! Stay for some DJ tunes as we celebrate our grassroots Big Mountain Competition!
Inspection Rules

These rules are governed by the IFSA and the Lake Louise Ski Resort Patrol. 

  • Competitors may go in and INSPECT their lines only, which includes skiing or riding down and looking at the features.
  • Competitors are NOT allowed to jump over any features. 
  • Competitors MUST have their bib on, which is to be picked up from the Event Crew prior to the Inspection Run.
  • This area will be monitored by the Technical Director and you will be DQ'd if these rules are not followed. 

Please note: Thursday Inspection Day is non-mandatory and will be shared with the FWQ 2* Competitors as well. Inspection is only mandatory the morning before your Qualifier run. 


Competitor bibs will be worn during the event. A deposit of $40 cash is required at check-in. You will receive this back when your bib is returned at the end of the event. 


All participants must sign an event waiver, which is available at the Check In desk.
