While cleaning out a storage room at the ski hill, staff made a discovery. Four 16mm film reels and a fully functional projector. The films last roughly 15 minutes each and date from the '60s, '70s, '80s and '90s. They are full of retro flavor; fondues, '70s haircuts and discos. Also included are colourful characters of yesterday like pioneer freeskier Wayne Wong and our previous ski school director, now local hotel Owner/Manager Andre Schwartz. One film even includes narration from John Worrall, the ski hill's previous General Manager. But particular highlights are two songs about skiing at Lake Louise with a helicopter flyover of the singer mid-performance.
A new retro video will be posted here each Thursday during the 2012/13 winter season so check back weekly!
