Bear Awareness Program

What is the ‘paw’sibility that you may run into a bear while hiking? During this program, our trained staff will explain the accepted behaviours and techniques to reduce your chances of having a negative encounter with a bear (or another animal). While considered a last resort, bear spray is important gear when travelling in bear country in the Canadian Rockies. You will have the opportunity to practice with inert bear spray (provided) that does not contain the pepper and allows you to practice without risk to yourself or others. Once you have learned how to use bear spray, you will be more confident in purchasing it in our retail shop or at our Wildlife Centre at the top of the gondola (and hopefully never have to use it!)
