Freeride World Qualifier 2*

February 23 & 24, 2019

Big Mountain ChallengeThe Freeride World Qualifier is a sanctioned 2* event, all while keeping that sweet grassroots vibe that you all know and love! You can earn those valuable points while skiing or riding in your favorite terrain at Lake Louise!

Details

The Freeride World Qualifier 2* has categories for both skiing and riding for men & women who are 18 and over. This event is sanctioned by the IFSA.

Whether this is your first Big Mountain Competition or your 20th, it is sure to be a blast. Athletes will compete in different venues over the course of two days and are judged on line, control, fluidity, technique and style.

  • Men Snowboard (18+) - 2*.
  • Ladies Ski (18+) - 2*.
  • Ladies Snowboard (18+) - 2*.

Schedule

Thursday February 21st, 2019 - CHECK IN & OPTIONAL INSPECTION RUN

  • 8:00am - 4:00pm: Early Check-In at the Season Pass Desk, Whiskey Jack Cafeteria.
  • Non-mandatory Inspection Day in the Venue, please see details under Inspection Rules.
  • 12:00pm: Non-mandatory Inspection for Women Snowboarders & Skiers.
  • 1:00pm: Non-mandatory Inspection for Men Snowboarders.
  • 2:00pm: Non-mandatory Inspection for Men Skiers. 

Friday February 22nd, 2019 - QUALIFIER VENUE CLOSED FOR THE BIG MOUNTAIN CHALLENGE

  • The Qualifier Venue will be closed for the Big Mountain Challenge (non-sanctioned event.) 
  • Depending on which venue will be chosen for the Finals, you may be able to practice there, as long as the Open Event is somewhere else. Those details will be announced.

Saturday February 23rd, 2019 - FWQ 2* QUALIFIERS

  • 7:00am - 8:15am: Check-in at the Sitzmark Lounge.
  • 8:15am: Mandatory Athlete & Coach meeting in the Sitzmark Lounge.
  • There will be no registration the day of, so please register ahead of time!
  • 9:00am: Load Glacier Chair & Top of the World Chair.
  • 9:30am - 10:30am: Mandatory Inspection Runs (no hitting of features.)
  • 11:00am - 3:00pm: Qualifier Runs in the Venue. 
  • Results of the day posted in the Sitzmark Lounge and online - whenever the last competitor is done and the judges have looked over the scores.

Sunday February 24th, 2019 - FWQ 2* FINALS

  • 7:45am - 8:15am: Check-In at the Sitzmark Lounge. 
  • 8:15am: Mandatory Coach & Athlete meeting in the Sitzmark Lounge. 
  • 9:00am: Load Glacier Chair & Top of the World Chair. 
  • 9:30am - 10:45am: Mandatory Inspection Runs (no hitting of features.)
  • 11:00am - 3:00pm: Finals Runs in Venue. 
  • 3:00pm - 5:00pm: Results & Awards of the day in the Sitzmark Lounge - whenever the last competitor is done and judges have tallied the scores. The Sitzmark Bar will be open for service while you wait. 
Inspection Rules

These rules are governed by the IFSA and the Lake Louise Ski Resort Patrol.

  • Competitors may go in and INSPECT their lines only at this time, which includes skiing or riding down and looking at the features. 
  • Competitors are NOT allowed to jump over any features. 
  • Competitors MUST have their bib on, which is to be picked up from the Event Crew prior to the Inspection Run. 
  • This area will be monitored by the Technical Director and you will be DQ'd if these rules are not followed. 

Please note: Thursday Inspection Day will be shared with the K2 Open Competitors as well. 

Bibs

Competitor bibs will be worn during this event. A deposit of $40 Cash is required at check-in. You will receive this back when your bib is returned at the end of the event. 

Waiver

All competitors must sign an event waiver, which is available at Check-In.

Cancellation Policy
  • Cancellations made before February 7th will result in removing the athlete from the start list and a 100% refund will be issued (minus the processing fee & IFSA sanctioning fee.) 
  • Cancellations made after February 7th but before February 14th, will result in removing the athlete from the start list and issuing a 50% refund (minus the processing fee & IFSA sanctioning fee.) 
  • Cancellations made after February 14th will result in removing the athlete from the start list and no refund will be issued. 
Spectators

We welcome spectators to watch from the bottom of the venue! A valid lift pass is required to access this area, on the backside of the mountain.
