Learn the basics of safe travel in avalanche terrainPlus terrain evaluation, trip planning, rescue basics & decision making

Lake Louise Ski Resort is committed to Avalanche Education. We offer Avalanche Skills Training (AST) courses throughout the season and are a proud partner with Avalanche Canada.

Lake Louise Ski Resort has access to some amazing backcountry skiing but we want you to access it safely with a basic avalanche education. We highly encourage all skiers and snowboarders to enroll in an AST 1 course - which we offer here at the mountain.

Avalanche Skills Training AST 1 Details

This two day course will teach you the basics of safe travel in avalanche terrain including terrain evaluation, trip planning, rescue basics & safety equipment. Classes run from 9:00am to 4:30pm each day with classroom sessions in the mornings and on-mountain training in the afternoons. The class meets the instructor at Glacier Chair base. Touring equipment is NOT required as all lessons are taught in-bounds at the ski resort and the use of avalanche safety equipment is included.

Dates & times:

Unfortunately we will not be offering AST 1 Courses during the 2020/21 season.  We are planning to have courses again next winter season. Please visit Avalanche.ca for a list of other providers.
