Promoting strong all mountain skiing/riding skills and mountain safety

For kids ages 3 to 17, all ability levels.

Our multi-week kids' programs are taught in age-specific formats (see tabs below) and run consecutive Saturdays or Sundays (your choice). Presented by our full-time CSIA/CASI certified instructors, these lessons guarantee to improve your child's skiing/snowboarding ability.

Note: Registrations for all programs end seven days prior to the program start date. Best rate lift ticket and discounted equipment are available through the Snow School.

Junior Bow Valley Kids (ages 3-4)

Designed to introduce children aged 3-4 years to skiing or snowboarding, the Junior Bow Valley Kids program provides a fun, supportive environment where young learners can build confidence and develop a lifelong love of the mountains.

Led by our full-time CSIA/CASI certified instructors, each lesson combines learning and play in a safe, age-appropriate setting. The focus is less on perfect technique and more on building confidence, independence, and a genuine enjoyment of being on snow. By the end of the program, children will be working toward skiing or snowboarding on their own, while finishing each day with smiles on their faces.

Note: All participants of the Junior program must be toilet trained. Please understand that skiing and snowboarding lessons are conducted in below freezing temperatures for the majority of the programs. Children may not participate if they are still in diapers or pull-ups. Morning sessions are subject to availability, spaces are limited and offered to those who register first. Maximum group size is 3 children per group. Lunch is not included in this 2 hour lesson.

Bow Valley Kids (ages 5-8)

Designed to offer children aged 5-8 yrs an excellent introduction to skiing or snowboarding and a lifelong passion for this sport. This program will improve your child’s skills and mountain safety awareness while they explore beginner areas, groomers, bumps, trees and more!

Summit Riders (ages 9-12)

Designed to offer children aged 9-12 yrs an excellent introduction to skiing or snowboarding and a lifelong passion for this sport. Presented by our full-time CSIA/CASI certified instructors. These kids will improve their all mountain riding abilities on varied terrain from bumps and trees to ultimate steeps and basic terrain park riding.

Freeriders (ages 13-17)

Designed to offer teens aged 13-17 years an excellent introduction to skiing or snowboarding and a lifelong passion for this sport. Promoting strong all-mountain skiing/riding skills and mountain safety, this program is guaranteed to enhance your teen’s skiing/snowboarding ability. Taught by our CSIA/CASI certified instructors, the curriculum is presented in a teen-only format achieving learning and results in a fun non-competitive setting.

Preparing For Colder
Temperatures

A good night’s sleep, a hearty breakfast, and drinking plenty of water will help in being prepared. Please dress children appropriately for the weather/temperature. Layers are highly recommended along with thermal long underwear, proper ski socks, mittens rather than gloves, face mask and toque. Hand and toes warmers are also recommended and can be purchased from the Retail Store.

Cold Weather Policy

Safety is our biggest priority; therefore, in times of extreme weather shorter bouts outside skiing/snowboarding mixed with a range of games and indoor activities will ensure that the children remain engaged and progressing. The Bow Valley Kids program also has exclusive access to the Whitehorn lodge basement which is used as a mid-mountain warm up zone.

Instructors are trained in how to minimize exposure and recognize and deal with frost nip situations.

Cancellation Policy

Payment is required at the time of booking. Refunds will be provided if cancellations are made seven (7) days prior to the program starting date. There will be a $25 non-refundable booking fee. Bow Valley Kids is sold as a package and therefore individual/missed lessons will be non-refundable. As skiing is a winter sport, there will be no refunds available for extreme weather conditions.

Please note: Equipment rental and lift tickets are not included in program pricing. All children under 18 years old taking a lesson must wear a helmet. Prices are in Canadian funds, do not include the GST and are subject to change without notice.
