If you’ve noticed Glacier Express taking a little breather lately, it’s for a VERY exciting reason - the lift is receiving a full upgrade to its control and braking systems. Since opening in 2000, Glacier Express has carried skiers, riders and summer gondola guests year-round, so it's come time for it to get a well-deserved refresh.

Here’s a peek at what's been happening behind the scenes:

• Full rewiring of the entire lift, including brand-new fibre optics and communication cables
• Replacement of all control system components with new industrial computers monitoring all safety functions
• Over 300 sensors and switches upgraded to keep constant watch on the safety functions of the lift
• All electronic drives replaced and upgraded for smoother, more efficient control
• Major upgrades to the lift’s braking systems
• A fresh interface for our lift operators

These upgrades will ensure Glacier Express continues to meet - and exceed - Canadian safety standards, delivering dependable, state-of-the-art performance for many seasons to come.We look forward to welcoming you back aboard by the end of the month!
