A Letter From Charlie Locke & Family
Dear Skiers and Snowboarders,
With cooler nights and daytime temperatures dropping, and with school and university having resumed, most of us are beginning to think about winter and the upcoming ski season. Snow has already begun to accumulate at higher elevations and our construction crews and other employees are busy preparing for the upcoming season.
We are planning to open on Friday, November 8th.
Take a lift to the Larches
For those of you who enjoy hiking or sightseeing, and for those who have guests visiting from afar, the Larches are exhibiting full colour. It is absolutely worth a visit in order to take a ride to our mid-station on the Glacier lift (our sightseeing lift in the summer) in either a Gondola or on a chair, and hike to the Kicking Horse Viewpoint to enjoy the splendor of the Larches and the outstanding views. Whitehorn Lodge will be open for lunch until September 28th, and the Glacier lift is scheduled to remain open until Sunday, October 6th. Your last year’s Season Pass is good for summer too, and will get you free lift access this Fall.
New This Season - High Speed Six-Person Heated Bubble Chair
Those of you who skied the Lake last year would have noticed the initial construction of our new deluxe chair. Pipestone Express is a six-person chair with heated seats and a bubble. It will start at the top of Juniper Jungle and end at the Saddle, just below the top of Summit Chair. It is accessible from the top of the Juniper Express Chair, the West Bowl ski out, Men’s Downhill, and Juniper ski runs.
This chair, combined with the Juniper Lift will provide a third way to get to the upper mountain and the backside, and will minimize base area lineups, even on our busiest days.
Season Pass Sale Ends Soon!
This is your opportunity to save on skiing. All passes are discounted. For example, save $200 on an Adult Pass and $700 on a Family Pass by buying your Season Pass at our pre-season discounted rate rather than during the operating season. We Continue to Invest in Your Ski Experience
Since the approval of our Long Range Plan in the Fall of 2019, we have installed three new chairlifts, opened two new terrain pods, and completed various infrastructure improvements including snowmaking enhancements and a wildlife underpass on our access road. We continue to invest to make your ski experience the best ever, and we have even more terrain expansions, chairs and projects planned over the next few years.
Completed Projects:
- 2020-2021
- Summit Chair – New Quad Chair
- West Bowl – 420 acres of new terrain - wide-open bowl, glades and tree skiing
- 2021-2022
- Juniper Express & Learning Area - High speed Quad chair with 4 new blue cruisers and access to a gentle green run for those stepping up from the Carpets
- New for 2024/2025
- Pipestone Express – High Speed Six-Pack with heated seats and a bubble, opening this Fall
- Expanded Parking Lots – We have expanded our Lots 2, 3, and 4 to provide more parking spaces within a short walk from the lifts
Projects in the Coming Seasons Include:
- Richardson’s Ridge Express – A high-speed chair will open up a brand-new 200-acre terrain pod across from the existing back bowls, with green and blue runs, tree skiing, glades, and chutes
- Prunepickers Terrain Pod – In the 1960s a surface lift accessed this gentle ski terrain above Temple Lodge to the west of the existing runs. It has since grown in, but we will rebuild these runs (great for kids!), and also add a new surface lift to enable access to the Richardson’s Ridge Terrain pod from Temple Lodge
- Sunnyside Express – A high-speed beginner chair will service the expanded Sunnyside learn-to-ski area and provide an enhanced progression area for kids and never-evers
- New Upper Mountain Lodge – Will be located at the top of the Gondola
- New Warming Hut – To be located near the top of the Top of the World and Pipestone Express
- Meadowlark Area Runs – One or two additional runs paralleling the existing Meadowlark run
