Have questions? We’ve got answers!
Below you’ll find the answers to the most common questions about the Lake Louise Snow School.
Lessons & Private Guides
Taking a group or private lesson with us is the best way to learn the basics, build confidence or improve technique with our highly qualified instructors. For more specific learning, such as terrain park progression, private lessons provide focused instruction from certified professionals.
We also offer guided tours to show you the best terrain around the resort and share local knowledge, ensuring you make the most of your mountain adventure.
Most of our group & private lessons start from 5yrs+. For 3-4yr olds, we offer specific Kinder programming.
There is also a fully licensed daycare at the resort.
Unless otherwise stated, a lift ticket or rental equipment is not included. However, best rate lift ticket and discounted rentals are available when purchasing a lesson online or with our reservations agents. Consider a Season Pass or Plus+Card for additional discounts.
Group full day lessons run from 10:30am-3:30pm with a one hour lunch break between 12:30-1:30pm. Group half-day lessons run from 1:00pm-3:00pm.
Private lessons are offered at various times, depending on the duration. Please check our online availability or enquire with one of our reservation agents.
We recommend you arrive one hour prior to the start of your lesson to allow enough time to get organized for your day on the slopes. You’ll find The Snow School office on the lower level of the Whiskyjack Lodge, across from the Guest Services desk. Check in with our reservations team to confirm your lesson and collect any required tickets or vouchers. From there, we can direct you to the Rental Shop, where to meet your instructor and assist with any final questions you may have.
Please note that if you are participating in a First Tracks lesson, an 8am arrival time is more than sufficient.
Our Snow School is located on the lower level of Whiskyjack Lodge, across from our Guest Services desk. Not sure how to get to us? Ask any of our friendly staff members around the base area.
We recommend that all guests check the weather conditions prior to visiting Lake Louise- however weather can change rapidly in the Canadian Rockies! Dressing in layers with thermals is a must, as well as a waterproof and windproof outer layer, along with warm gloves or mittens. For those sunnier days, we always suggest goggles(or sunglasses) & sunscreen. Forgotten anything? Pants and jackets are available to rent for an additional cost or check out our Alpine Sports Boutique located in the lower level of the Lodge of Ten Peaks.
We recommend taking private lessons if you are looking to be paired with a specific instructor. Please notify the reservation agent when booking your lesson. All requests are subject to availability.
People often ask if it is appropriate to tip their instructor - gratuities are never expected but always appreciated. If your instructor has provided a great experience, sharing their knowledge and passion for the mountains, a positive review or gratuity means a lot. Should you choose to express your appreciation, our Snow School Reservations Team will be pleased to assist you.
We are proud to partner with Rocky Mountain Adaptive! The team of experts at RMA specialize in providing accessible adventures for individuals with physical and/or neuro-divergent challenges. They use adaptive ski or snowboard techniques suited to each student's needs. To explore Lake Louise with an accessible lesson, or learn more about adaptive equipment, please contact them directly. In rare cases, severe cold weather may cause opening delays or closures. For updates, please check our Conditions Page or follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. See our cold weather guidelines here.
